The Australia Partner Visa allows the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. It provides a pathway to permanent residency through a two-stage process—first a temporary visa, followed by a permanent visa after a qualifying period.
There are two main streams based on your location at the time of application:
- Subclass 820/801 (Onshore) – Apply while in Australia
- Subclass 309/100 (Offshore) – Apply from outside Australia
This visa is ideal for couples who wish to build their life together in Australia, with access to work rights, Medicare, and eventual permanent residency.
